1) Reading! Specifically, I'm digging out some of my old favorites for myself and the kids. What's my favorite?
I have loved this book since I was in high school -- the imagery, the history, the characters. During one of my pregnancies, I had Kyle completely on board with naming the baby Katherine Scarlett, so I could have my very own Katie Scarlett. The little bugger turned out to be a boy, and by the time I was pregnant again, Kyle says he had come to his senses and Katie Scarlett Dempsey was off the Names List. Boo.
2) Which brings me to my next favorite rainy day activity: classic movies! Want to guess which one is my favorite?
Also on the list are: The Sound of Music, The Quiet Man, The Bells of St. Mary's, and The Trouble with Angels.
3) Netflix currently has quite a few Disney classic cartoons in their lineup right now! I love that my kids are enjoying
and...
"Who's afraid of the big bad wolf?" is Faith's new favorite song.
4) Summertime Religious Education! Actually, I'm just doing the formal version for Jack and Eamon, but they are really enjoying reading the chapters in the Faith and Life Series (for grades 5 and 2) and working on the corresponding workbooks. Weird Montessori kids that they are, workbooks are a treat for them.
5) And, I'm loving that Dwija has named her sweet baby boy and that we are getting so SO close to being able to give them a real and functional laundry room before she has to go on hospital bed rest. Please keep them in your prayers, whether or not you are able to donate. Prayers are the MOST important!
Now.....
Rain, rain, GO AWAY! The Dempseys have a graduation party on Saturday!
We've never seen the Brave Little Tailor, will have to encourage that one! My almost 2 year old loves "minnie mouse" that's what he calls Mickey Mouse. Unless, maybe he really does love Minnie Mouse, which would make more sense...
ReplyDeleteHa! Seven with One Blow! Love the Tailor!
DeleteAnd, my now-almost-6yr old Eamon had a weird fascination with Minnie Mouse from age 3-4. ;)
Oh, we have the Brave Little Tailor book! My kids will love that it's on Netflix!
ReplyDeleteI used to have the book as a child; I need to see if the library has it. Thanks for reminding me!
DeleteWe've been loving the new-to-Netflix Disney movies and I, personally, am *so* glad that Dora went far, far away.
ReplyDeleteHave fun with the graduation party! I hope it's not muggy, rainy, or too hot! (Oh summertime in Illinois...)
Oh, me too, on the Dora thing! Hasta la pasta Dora!
DeleteI'm keeping my fingers crossed for no downpours -- I'm even willing to deal with muggy and hot! Summertime in Illinois is right!
Oh how I love Gone With the Wind, both book and movie. With Sound of Music as your second choice, I'm going to have to believe the rest of the ones you named will be right up my alley.
ReplyDeleteYou should watch them! You really should!!!!
DeleteOk so post partum with our first I watched Gone with the Wind and swore up and down that it was the worst movie everrrrrrrrr.....and then around a week later I realized that I actually loved the movie. Dang. I really need to watch it again!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the heads-up about Disney classics! We have been reading Three Little Cajun Pigs, and I bet little R would just love to see the story in a movie.
Prayers for favorable weather!
And for the record...my husband and I love love love your "My Least Favorite Comments and Questions" Like if you make a bumper sticker, we are ordering two!!!!
Wait.... You never saw Gone With The Wind until you were a married adult with a baby??? My mind is boggled!! Yes! Watch it again! But read the book, too!
DeleteI will have to look into the idea of printing up some bumper stickers..... ;)
And T-shirts. Get t-shirts so I don't have to actually talk to the people asking those questions!
DeleteHa! Perfect!!!
DeleteGWTW....best. ever. ever.
ReplyDeleteIsn't it????? I just love it so much!
